This Summer in Bordeaux has been one of extraordinary events,
followed by a good harvest!
Read below the picking report and discover our upcoming events at the Village de Bages.

Summer in Bordeaux:

- Vinexpo Bordeaux - 17/21st June 2007
This year Bordeaux celebrated the River during the week of Vinexpo with a four day festival ("Bordeaux Fete le Fleuve").

- Marathon du Medoc - September 8th 2007

This time 9,000 runners set off from Pauillac passing by 50 chateaux from Lafite Rothschild to Leoville Las Cases and ran straight through the village of Bages for the first time this year. Since participants can stop for refreshments of shucked oysters, sausages and wine, it is not surprising this Marathon boasts of being the longest (read slowest) in the world!
- Featured Wine Tours
Bordeaux Saveurs has also reached record numbers of visitors this year. We have organised numerous wine tours for groups, companies and individuals.

- In June, Berry Bros & Rudd, UK brought a dozen of its clients for an extraordinary visit to the Bordeaux vineyards.
Their next tour will take place 18-21 November 2007.
- Download Berry Bros & Rudd VIP Wine Tour program.
- Contact Rebecca Larmont for more information.

- Union des Grands Crus - Weekend des grands amateurs:
Bordeaux Saveurs organises every year a wine tour around this one of a kind gathering of the majority of Bordeaux's premier wines.
For the May 2008 event, check our website nearer to the time or www.ugcb.net.

picking report:

After an exceptionally sunny month of September, the grapes were harvested at perfect maturity. After cool nights, the mild weather of the first days of October has allowed picking in ideal conditions. The merlots, the first to be brought in, are showing good colour and high levels of sugar. We just finished bringing in the cabernets at full maturity. They present a good balance and a magnificent structure. We're now in the malolactic fermentation process.

upcoming eventS AT THE VILLAGE OF BAGES:

After our first "Sainte Barbe" celebration last year at the village, this year's celebration will be enhanced by new winter events as Sainte Barbe is the patron saint of miners and firemen.

"Amethyst, Daughter of Bacchus"
Treasures of the Mineralogy Museum of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mine of Paris

Winter 2007
At the beginning of December, the village de Bages will feature a unique exhibition of stones. The Mineralogy Museum located at the Hôtel de Vendôme in Paris hosts the oldest and most impressive stone collection in France.
This exceptional exhibition will be displayed during 3 months at the village.
Grand opening : Tuesday December 4th on Sainte Barbe's feastday.

Touch the Truck!
15th-16th December 2007

After the miners, the Village de Bages will pay a tribute to the firemen.
The Pauillac rescue squad has accepted to participate in our Touch the Truck event during the weekend of the 15th and 16th of December. The most modern and impressive firefighting equipment will be displayed on the village's square while kids and grown ups will be able to discover the activities of the firemen and get to know their job better.

Manger Scene and Santons
December 2007

A life-sized manger with a donkey, an ox and a sheep will occupy a corner of the square. There will be a Christmas tree lighting and for the first time, the Bages' Bazaar will offer a great Santon display with hundreds of clay figurines.
